Lift the Lid Walk - Background

The "Lift the Lid" walk for mental health was the brainchild of Mooloolaba Rotarian Vicki Stewart.  Vicki is a long-term, passionate supporter of mental health advocacy, translating that passion into action through her work in our Rotary district as the Australia Rotary Health representative for several years.

In 2017 she convinced our club (it didn't take much) to support her idea of a “walk for mental health” and the first event was held on 15 October 2017. Three annual events were held under that banner with valuable funds being donated to Australian Rotary Health (ARH).

In 2019/2020 ARH agreed to adopt the concept and the “Lift the Lid Walk for Mental Health” was born.

Australian Rotary Health - Background

Australian Rotary Health (ARH) was established in 1981 and is currently the largest non-government funder of research in Australia, specialising in the field of mental health.

That research is currently focussed on young people and is achieved through research grants, PhD scholarships and postdoctoral fellowships.

ARH also supports general health research, indigenous health scholarships and rural medical and nursing scholarships.

The power of Rotary has been demonstrated yet again with this event now being run across Australia by an ever-increasing number of Rotary Clubs (currently 26), raising much needed funds for ARH.  Keep up-to-date on the next walk in your area and learn more about ARH at
