endED Connections Cafe

In late 2023/early 2024 our enthusiastic members led by Roger Wright, and supported by our generous sponsors (see below), completed the conversion of an old garage into the "endED Connections Cafe.

endED are a local not-for-profit that works tirelessly to help people, especially young people, overcome the ravages of eating disorders.  Their purpose-designed facility in West Woombye houses consulting rooms and provides a restful environment for patients and their families.

The "Connections Cafe" was opened on 13 March 2024 and provides a quiet space for families to relax, have a warm drink and socialise with other people facing the same challenges supporting their loved ones coping with eating disorders.

This cafe is also open to other charities and not-for-profits and is proving to be a great addition to the Sunshine Coast.

Apart from providing the labour and project management expertise, Mooloolaba Rotary funded this redevelopment from the income received from our Legends Showcase event held on 5 May 2023 (read about that event HERE).  Originally expected to cost in excess of $30,000, this project has been delivered for about $10,000 thanks to the expert project management provided by Rotarian Roger Wright and the generosity of our sponsors.

The surplus funds have allowed endED to put a roof over the deck alongside the cafe and complete other structural work on the property.
